Scheduled - Our storage vendor HPE will be performing an online upgrade on one of our Auckland based HPE 3PAR Storage Arrays to maintain operational efficiencies. This involves staging the new code on all controller nodes and then rebooting them one at a time and checking each is operational after each reboot. A detailed check of all components of the Storage array will also be completed once all nodes are upgraded.
The HPE 3PAR technology has a zero-down-time architecture allowing for online upgrades and maintenance, as such there is no service impact expected during the upgrade.
One of the last remaining components in our migration of the vGRID Hamilton platform to the Datacom Kapua Datacentre is the relocation of our clustered Firewalls. This step will consolidate our border firewall services at Kapua. As the Firewall service is clustered we do not expect any significant disruption to service as we will move the standby node to Kapua first and bring it back online and fully test it before migrating all workloads to the newly installed Kapua node.
During the maintenance window we expect a short period of time, around 5-10 seconds, where Internet access will be disrupted for customers while the Firewall cluster moves workloads to the relocated cluster node at the Kapua Datacentre. In rare circumstance, while the cluster is split there is a risk that an unexpected firewall failure could cause a longer disruption to services but we will be working as quickly as possible to keep this risk period as short as possible during the maintenance window.

No further issues have occurred so we are considering this incident resolved. We have a pending ticket with our upstream provider and will provide details of the cause of this issue when they become available.
Mar 16, 16:39 NZDT
Our upstream provider has confirmed that this was a fault on their network that has disrupted a number of their customers in New Zealand. The issue occurred at about 10:01am and was resolved by 10:09am.
All services are operating normally at the moment and we are awaiting information from our upstream providing on the cause and assurance the fault will not repeat.
Mar 16, 10:31 NZDT
At approximately 10am this morning we experienced a 5-10 minute drop in all Internet traffic to our Auckland platform. Access seems to have resumed and we are investigating a cause at the moment and will provide further details once we have them.

We will be migrating Waikato UFB customer connections to a new hand-over port. Most connections will experience only a few seconds of outage and we we expect no more than 5 minutes of disruption in any case. While the services learn the new path though in all likelihood the downtime will be considerably shorter. We will perform connectivity and bandwidth testing at the time and will roll back immediately if we find any issues.
